I bought smoking wood, how should I store it?

Storing firewood properly is key. Poor storage is a sure-fire way to have bad tasting smoke and a whole host of problems. We recommend storing your wood elevated, outdoors, with a pallet underneath, or on a shelf. See below for examples:

Alternatively, you can keep the wood in the sacks you purchased it in, also stacked on a pallet. Although we recommend airing out the wood for best results. An important factor to note is that you don't want to store the firewood against a wall as that will trap humidity and cause rotting to occur. A final note to keep in mind is that the firewood should be elevated off the ground to avoid pests and insects finding their way into the wood. It may sound silly, but we've found that keeping the firewood off the ground significantly reduces any chances of bugs reaching it.

In summary, for optimum storage, you should:

  • Store it outdoors
  • Store it on a pallet or shelf (elevated)
  • Keep it away from any walls
  • Remove from sacks to let airflow in
